Hi, everyone, my name is Val Spiropoulos.
I am one of the owners here at The Centered Life and I wanted to take a little bit of time to share with you about a topic that's really important.
We spend a lot of time educating our clients and our community about some of the limits that our insurance companies can place on us when we're looking for mental health services.
The first one I want to share with you all is it really limits us prioritizing the right things when looking for a therapist. If we set out to only look for a therapist, it's in that work with our insurance, we're really discounting some important factors that allow us to really move forward in the best way in therapy. And those factors are looking for a therapist that's highly trained in the area that we're looking for support in, as well as finding a therapist that we really align with.
Our medical system and our insurance companies have really specific guidelines about the types of diagnoses that will be covered by insurance, as well as the types of treatment that you can receive from your therapist.
We really value being allowed to incorporate alternative and holistic treatments to be able to support our clients. A lot of times those kinds of treatments are not covered by insurance companies.
There are many laws that protect your medical information from other people having access to it when you use your insurance benefits. Your insurance company has access to your diagnosis code, oftentimes your treatment and sometimes even some of the documentation that your therapist keeps on a regular basis.
Sometimes that's okay with people, but oftentimes people really want 100% full privacy and confidentiality of their record.
If you have any questions about any way that we can educate you about using your out of network insurance coverage or if you have any questions about how to use insurance for your mental health, please feel free to reach out. Thanks so much!
Congratulations on exploring the first steps to enhancing your life. Let’s chat about you, your family, your job, your stress, your desires, and how we can make joy and bliss in between it all.
